Places you see on the Mysore and Wayanad trip
The two halves of the trip, in the order most itineraries run them.
- Mysore Palace: The Wadiyar palace of 1912; go for the 7 pm Sunday and public-holiday illumination, 97,000 bulbs for 45 minutes.
- Chamundi Hill and the Nandi: 1,000 steps or a road to the Chamundeshwari temple, with the monolithic Nandi on the way down.
- Brindavan Gardens: The terraced gardens below the KRS dam, with the musical fountain after dark.
- Nagarhole and Bandipur: The forest roads between the two halves, with dawn and afternoon safaris for elephant, gaur and deer.
- Edakkal Caves: Neolithic carvings 4,000 to 8,000 years old, up a 1.5 km climb from Ambalavayal; closed on Mondays.
- Banasura Sagar Dam: The largest earth dam in India, with speedboats on the reservoir and islands you can walk out to in summer.
- Soochipara (Sentinel Rock) Falls: A three-tier fall with a pool at the bottom, a 15-minute walk through forest.
- Chembra Peak and Kuruva Island: The heart-shaped lake on the way up the 2,100 m peak, and a 950-acre river island crossed on bamboo rafts; both need the season and a permit.
Mysore and Wayanad trip cost
₹7,499 to ₹21,999 per person, and what moves it is the length, the season and the room. 3 days from ₹7,499, 4 days from ₹10,999, 6 days from ₹16,499, 8 days from ₹21,999.

- Sightseeing as listed, and a Travloger trip captain on every group departure.
What it does not include
- Entry tickets at the palace, Brindavan gardens, Edakkal and the falls.
- Safari tickets at Nagarhole, Bandipur or Muthanga, and the Chembra permit, all paid locally.
- Lunches on travel days, anything personal, and travel insurance.
Who this trip suits
Solo travellers and friends: the fixed-date departures are mixed groups with a trip captain, from ₹7,499 per person, and rooms are shared by gender. About half of every group travels alone, so joining by yourself is the normal way to do this trip, not the exception.
Couples and families: the Mysuru half asks nothing of you, and in Wayanad the safaris, Banasura Sagar and the falls suit any age. Edakkal is a real climb and Chembra a proper trek, so both are worth planning around with very young children or elderly parents.
Best time to go, and getting to Mysore and Wayanad
Best time
- October to February, 15 to 29°C: The best window for both: mild in Mysuru, clear and green in Wayanad, and the season for Chembra and the safaris.
- March to May, 18 to 34°C: Hot by afternoon in Mysuru; Wayanad stays cool on the estates and is at its quietest.
- June to September, 18 to 28°C: A light monsoon in Mysuru and one of the wettest in Kerala across the border: the falls are at full flow, prices are lowest, and Chembra and Kuruva usually close.
Getting there
Mysuru has a station and a small airport; Wayanad has neither, and is reached through Mysuru or through Kozhikode, about 100 km up the Thamarassery ghat. Every trip here includes the road legs.
Or take them one at a time
Each also runs on its own: Mysuru for the palace and the gardens, Wayanad for the caves, the falls and the forest.
