Best time
December to February is the most comfortable time, with cool mornings for the hill and the temple circuits. Tirumala is open and busy all year: the queues are longest on weekends, in the April and May school holidays, on Vaikuntha Ekadasi in December or January and during the Brahmotsavam, usually in September or October. March to June is hot, and October and November bring the north-east monsoon rain.

- October and November, 22 to 32°C: The north-east monsoon: heavy rain on some days, green hills, and shorter queues outside the festival days.
What to pack
Traditional clothes for darshan, which TTD asks for (a dhoti or kurta-pyjama for men, a saree or churidar for women; no shorts or sleeveless tops), and light cotton for the rest of the day. Slip-on footwear, because shoes, phones and cameras are left at the deposit counters before the queue; the photo ID you booked darshan with; a cap, sunscreen and water for the hot months, and an umbrella in October and November.
Getting there
Our Tirupati trips start and end in Chennai, so from Hyderabad the simple way in is a flight or an overnight train to Chennai, which is not part of the package. Tirupati itself is about 560 km from Hyderabad, with overnight trains from Secunderabad and Hyderabad and flights into Tirupati airport at Renigunta; if you would rather begin there, ask the planner whether the plan can start in Tirupati.
Tirupati is about 250 km from Bengaluru, five to six hours by road. Our trips start and end in Chennai, about 350 km from Bengaluru by train, bus or a short flight, which is not part of the package; if Tirupati is the easier start for you, ask the planner whether the plan can begin there.
Every Tirupati trip on this page starts and ends in Chennai. Tirupati is about 140 km away, three to four hours by road: most plans pick you up at night so you reach Tirupati by morning and go up to Tirumala early, and the others pick you up on arrival at Chennai airport or station. All of them travel in a private AC sedan or SUV with a driver, with fuel, tolls and parking included. Trains from Chennai Central to Tirupati take about three hours if you would rather travel on your own.
Permits and fees
Darshan at Tirumala is not part of any package: the trip pages say "TTD darshan booked separately". Darshan tickets and the paid special-entry slots are booked on the temple trust's official portal (ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in) in each pilgrim's name with a photo ID, and the popular dates usually go well in advance, so book your slot before you fix the trip and share the date and time with the planner. Rules, quotas and prices change; confirm them on the TTD site before you book.
