Mahabaleshwar questions, answered

What is the best time to make this trip?
October to March is cool, clear and comfortable for sightseeing across Maharashtra. The monsoon (June-September) turns the Sahyadris green and fills the waterfalls, though the caves and forts can be slippery. The summer months (April-May) are hot on the Deccan plateau around Aurangabad, so an early start each day helps.
Will the waterfalls and Kaas plateau be at their best?
The waterfalls, Lingmala, Thoseghar, Vajrai and the Lonavala points, are fullest from June to October during and just after the monsoon, and can run dry in summer. The Kaas plateau flowers only for a short window, roughly August to October, so plan around that if the blooms are a priority.
What should we pack?
Comfortable walking shoes for the caves, forts and viewpoints, a hat and sunscreen for the Deccan sun around Aurangabad, and a light jacket for the cool hill-station evenings. For the temples, carry modest clothing, and if you travel in the monsoon add a raincoat or umbrella.
What kind of hotels are included?
You choose the category, Standard (3★) or Deluxe (4★ hotels and resorts), and the price adjusts accordingly. Rooms are on twin-sharing with breakfast included. We list the primary hotels for each stay; if a primary hotel is sold out we provide an alternate of the same or higher category at no extra cost.
Can this itinerary be customised?
Yes. We can add or drop nights, change the starting city, upgrade the hotel category, or extend to nearby spots like Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar or Pratapgad. Tell your travel consultant what you have in mind and we will rework the plan and the quote for you.
