Araku and Vanjangi tour packages

The ghat road up from Vizag for the Borra caves and the coffee valley, and a four-in-the-morning drive to Vanjangi to stand above the clouds.

Araku & Vanjangi Packages

Fixed-date group departures leave from Vizag and Hyderabad, and private Araku Valley trips are planned around your own dates from any city. By starting city: Araku and Vanjangi packages from Vizag · Araku and Vanjangi packages from Hyderabad · Araku and Vanjangi packages from Bangalore

Araku and Vanjangi packages at a glance

Araku and Vanjangi tour packages cost ₹5,299 to ₹13,499 per person for a 2 to 5 day trip, depending on the length, the season and whether you take a fixed-date group departure or a private trip.

  • Duration: 2, 3, 4, 5 days; two days is the shortest that catches a sunrise, three or four adds Lambasingi or the Vizag coast.
  • Price: ₹5,299 to ₹13,499 per person, twin or triple sharing.
  • Route: The ghat road up from Visakhapatnam for the Borra caves and Araku valley, and a pre-dawn drive to Vanjangi hill for the sea of clouds.
  • Travel: Visakhapatnam is the gateway: three hours up the ghat by road, or the Kirandul passenger train through 58 tunnels.
  • Stay: a resort or homestay in Araku valley, and an early start rather than a second base for Vanjangi.
  • Best time: November to February; the cloud sea needs a cold, clear dawn.
  • Trip type: private trips planned around your dates.

Araku and Vanjangi 2 day package

2 days / 1 night from ₹5,299 per person.

Day one is the climb: the Borra caves on the ghat road, Katiki falls, the coffee museum and Padmapuram, with the tribal museum and Dhimsa in the evening. Day two starts at 4 am for Vanjangi and the cloud sea, then Chaparai falls and the road back down to Visakhapatnam.

1 plan: 2 Days Araku Vanjangi Bliss (2D/1N, from ₹5,299).

Places you see on the Araku and Vanjangi trip

The two halves of the trip, in the order most itineraries run them.

  • Vanjangi sunrise: A hilltop above the valley where the clouds settle below you before dawn on a cold morning; you leave around 4 am for it.
  • Borra Caves: Million-year-old limestone caverns with stalactites lit through the chamber, on the ghat road up.
  • Katiki Waterfalls: A short trek down from Borra to a fall in the gorge, best just after the rains.
  • Chaparai Waterfalls: A wide sheet of water over flat rock where you can walk in; busiest at weekends.
  • Araku coffee plantations and the coffee museum: The valley's own coffee, grown under shade by the tribal cooperatives, with a tasting.
  • Padmapuram Gardens: A botanical garden with the toy train and the tree-top huts.
  • The tribal museum and Dhimsa dance: The museum at Araku with the Dhimsa performance in the evening.
  • The Kirandul passenger train: The line from Visakhapatnam through 58 tunnels and over 84 bridges — the ride, not the destination.

Araku and Vanjangi trip cost

₹5,299 to ₹13,499 per person, and what moves it is the length, the season and the room. 2 days from ₹5,299, 3 days from ₹7,299, 4 days from ₹10,499, 5 days from ₹12,999.

What the price includes

  • Travel from the pick-up city and back on a group departure, or the car and driver on a private trip.
  • Stays on twin or triple sharing.
  • The meals named on the trip page, normally breakfast and dinner on a group departure.
  • Sightseeing as listed, and a Travloger trip captain on every group departure.

What it does not include

  • Entry at the Borra caves, the tribal museum and Padmapuram gardens.
  • The Kirandul train ticket where a trip takes it, and the Vanjangi jeep on the last rough stretch.
  • Lunches on travel days, anything personal, and travel insurance.

Who this trip suits

Friends and solo travellers: every trip here is private, so a group of four to eight sets its own pace and splits the cost.

Couples and families: the valley itself is easy — caves, a garden, a coffee tasting and a waterfall you can walk into. Vanjangi is the ask: a 4 am start, an hour in the car and a short climb in the cold, for something that only happens on a clear winter morning. Worth telling children the night before.

Best time to go, and getting to Araku and Vanjangi

Best time

  • November to February, 10 to 27°C: The season, and the only reliable window for the Vanjangi cloud sea: cold nights, clear dawns, and the valley at its best.
  • March to May, 20 to 35°C: Warm in the valley and much hotter on the coast below; the clouds rarely settle and the falls run thin.
  • June to October, 20 to 30°C: The monsoon: the falls at their fullest, the ghat road green and misty, and the fewest people.

Getting there

Visakhapatnam is the only sensible gateway: three hours up the ghat road, or the Kirandul passenger train. Vanjangi is an hour past Araku town and only works as a pre-dawn drive from a night in the valley.

Araku and Vanjangi: what travellers ask

October to March is the season: cool mornings, clear valley views and the best months for Vanjangi's sunrise. The monsoon from June to September turns the ghats green and the waterfalls full, with mist that can hide the views. April and May are warm but still cooler than the coast.

From people just like you

During this memorable trip, it wasn't merely a voyage but an enriching adventure shared with dear friends and family. The experience proved to be exceptionally comfortable, justifying every penny spent. Opting for this option was a decision I would have regretted not making, given the unparalleled comfort and joy it brought. A pivotal factor in this delightful journey was our travel guide, Deepika. Her remarkable care and attention to detail ensured that every moment was free of discomfort, making this expedition truly special.

Our Keral trip was good, it was a well organised and traveloger team took care of everything so well. However, our trip was during christmas and obviously all the places were crowed and roads were blocked. Also, it was informed to us that the places will be crowed. So, we had no expectations and had good vacation.
