Places to visit in Tirupati
These are the places Tirupati trips are built from. Each trip page lists exactly which of them it covers, and a private trip can swap one for another.
- Sri Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala: The hill temple of Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) on the seven hills above Tirupati, one of the most visited shrines in the world; darshan is by a slot booked through TTD, and queues can run for hours on weekends and festival days.
- Sri Varahaswamy Temple and Swami Pushkarini: The temple beside the main shrine where tradition has pilgrims pray first, next to the temple tank.
- Akasha Ganga, Papavinasanam and Japali Theertham: The sacred waters in the Tirumala forest: the Akasha Ganga falls, the bathing ghat at Papavinasanam and the Hanuman shrine by the pond at Japali.
- Srivari Padalu and Silathoranam: The Lord's footprints at a viewpoint on the hill, and the natural rock arch close to the temple.
- Sri Padmavathi Temple, Tiruchanur: The temple of Goddess Padmavathi, Lord Venkateswara's consort, a short drive from Tirupati town; most pilgrims visit it on the same trip.
- Govindaraja Swamy Temple and Kapila Theertham: The big temple in Tirupati town with its tall gopuram, and the Shiva temple and waterfall at the foot of the hills.
- Srikalahasti: The Shiva temple about 35 km from Tirupati, the air (Vayu) shrine among the five Pancha Bhoota temples, known for the Rahu-Ketu puja.
- Kanipakam Vinayaka Temple: The Ganesha temple in Chittoor district whose idol is said to have appeared in a well, on the way from Tirupati towards Vellore.
- Sripuram Golden Temple, Vellore: The Sri Lakshmi Narayani temple sheathed in gold, reached by a star-shaped path through a garden.
- Kanchipuram: The temple city of the Ekambareswarar, Kamakshi Amman and Varadaraja Perumal temples, and of the silk-weaving lanes.
- Arunachaleswarar Temple, Tiruvannamalai: The vast Shiva temple at the foot of Arunachala hill, the fire shrine of the Pancha Bhoota temples, on the four and five day plans.
- Tiruttani Murugan Temple: The hilltop temple of Lord Murugan between Tirupati and Kanchipuram, one of his six abodes.
