1Day 1 - Trip begins at Srinagar - Arrival in Srinagar | Shikara Ride on Dal Lake.
  • Arrive at Srinagar Airport, meet your representative and transfer to your hotel.
  • Board a Shikara ride on Dal Lake past houseboats and floating gardens.
  • Optional visit to the Botanical Garden or the Tulip Garden (Asia’s largest, in season).
  • Overnight stay in Srinagar.
2Day 2 - Transfer to Pahalgam | Sightseeing Tour.
  • After breakfast and check-out, drive to Pahalgam, the Valley of Shepherds.
  • From the union cab stand, visit Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari (cab payable directly).
  • Plenty of open meadows for the children and easy riverside walks.
  • Overnight stay in Pahalgam.
3Day 3 - Pahalgam to Srinagar | City Sightseeing.
  • After breakfast, drive back to Srinagar and check in.
  • Tour the Mughal Gardens, Chashme Shahi and Nishat Bagh, overlooking Dal Lake.
  • Visit Lal Chowk for local food and the Hazratbal Shrine on the lakeshore.
  • Overnight stay in Srinagar.
4Day 4 - Excursion to Gulmarg | Houseboat Stay.
  • After breakfast and check-out, drive to the Gulmarg union cab stand.
  • Take the local cab for the Gulmarg circuit, Gondola, Drung Waterfall and Strawberry Valley.
  • Snow play in winter or meadow walks in summer, fun for every age.
  • Return to Srinagar and check in to a houseboat on Dal Lake for the night.
  • Overnight stay on the houseboat.
5Day 5 - Trip ends at Srinagar - Departure from Srinagar.
  • After breakfast, check out from the houseboat with a last Shikara ride to the ghat.
  • Transfer to Srinagar Airport for your journey home.
  • This marks the end of your trip with Travloger.

Kashmir questions, answered

What is the best time to do this Kashmir trip?
The trip runs all year. March-May brings tulips and blossom, June-August gives the greenest meadows and the most comfortable weather, September-October is the golden chinar season, and December-February turns Gulmarg into a snow destination. Heavy snowfall can occasionally affect the Gulmarg and Sonmarg roads in peak winter.
Are the Gondola tickets and pony rides included?
No. The Gulmarg Gondola, pony and sledge rides, and the Thajiwas Glacier pony ride are paid directly on the spot. Gondola tickets are issued by the state cable-car corporation and are subject to availability on the day, so book them as soon as you reach Gulmarg.
Why are local union cabs needed at Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg?
Local transport unions do not allow outside vehicles beyond the main cab stand at these points. Your private vehicle drops you at the stand and a local union cab takes you on the sightseeing circuit. These union charges are fixed and paid directly, which is why they sit under exclusions.
Is the houseboat stay comfortable for families and senior citizens?
Yes. The houseboats are moored on the Dal Lake shoreline, reached by a short shikara transfer, and have en-suite rooms, hot water, heating and room service. If anyone has mobility concerns, tell us in advance and we will place you on a boat with the shortest walk from the ghat, or move that night to a lakeside hotel.
How much walking is involved?
Very little. Sightseeing is point-to-point by vehicle, and the walks at the Mughal Gardens, Betaab and Aru valleys are short and flat. The only uphill sections are the optional pony rides at Pahalgam and Thajiwas Glacier, which you can skip entirely.
What should we pack?
Even in summer the mornings and evenings are cool, so carry a light jacket and a warm layer for Gulmarg and Sonmarg. From November to March you need proper winter wear, gloves, cap and waterproof shoes, snow boots and jackets can also be hired at Gulmarg. Sunscreen and sunglasses matter year-round at this altitude.
Can this itinerary be customised?
