Goa is two states of mind separated by about an hour's drive, and choosing wrongly is the main way people are disappointed by it. North Goa — Baga, Calangute, Anjuna, Vagator — is the busy one: markets, shacks, nightlife, and beaches that are rarely empty. South Goa is where the sand gets wider and the crowds thin out, at Colva, Palolem and the long quiet stretches between them. In the middle sits Panaji, which most people skip and shouldn't: the Latin quarter at Fontainhas is a grid of ochre and blue Portuguese houses, and Old Goa's cathedrals a short drive away are the largest churches in Asia. Inland, the state turns green and wet, with spice farms and the Dudhsagar falls on the Karnataka border — which is also why several of our routes carry on to Dandeli for the river. Trips run two to six days, all private and customisable, so a beach weekend and a longer north-to-south trip are both just routes we build round your dates.
