Mangalore questions, answered

Is this a private trip or a group departure?
This is a private trip. Your own vehicle and driver, your own dates, and only your group on board. The day plan below is the standard route and can be reshaped around what you actually want to see.
Why is there no price shown?
This route is quoted on request rather than sold at a fixed rate, because the cost moves with your group size, the vehicle you need and the category of stay you pick. Send us your dates and how many of you there are, and we come back with a firm per person figure.
What should I know before the temple visits?
The temples on this route are working places of worship, not monuments. Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered, and at Dharmasthala, Kukke and Sringeri expect a dress code closer to traditional wear. Footwear, leather items and cameras are left outside, and phones are usually not allowed in the inner sanctum. Queues move faster early in the morning.
When is the best time to travel this coast?
October to February is the comfortable window: dry days, warm sea and clear temple mornings. June to September is the monsoon, when Jog Falls and the Western Ghats are at their most dramatic but boat rides and island trips are often suspended. March to May is hot and humid on the coast.
Not travelling from Bangalore? Can I still join?
Yes. The plan starts and ends at Bangalore and you can reach it from any Indian city. Mangalore and Hubli both have airports and good train links, and Bangalore is the usual gateway. Your travel up to the start point is not part of the quote, and we will help you pick arrival and departure times that fit the plan.
Is nine days too much driving?
It is a long circuit and it is honest to say so: this route crosses Karnataka from the palace city to the coast and back, so several days carry three to five hours on the road, and the last day from Gokarna to Bangalore is a long one. In return you see the state properly rather than in pieces. If you would rather slow it down, we can add a night in Coorg or on the coast.
