Places to visit in Himachal
These are the places Himachal trips are built from. Each trip page lists exactly which of them it covers, and a private trip can swap one for another.
- Shimla's Ridge and Mall Road: The old summer capital's walking heart: Christ Church on the Ridge, Scandal Point, Lakkar Bazaar for woodwork, and Jakhoo temple on the highest hill.
- Kufri: The hill above Shimla for pine trails, pony rides and the Himalayan Nature Park, and snow in the winter months.
- Kullu valley and Manikaran: The road from Shimla to Manali along the Beas, with Pandoh Dam, Kullu's Raghunath Temple and the gurudwara and hot springs at Manikaran.
- Manali town: Hidimba Devi Temple in its cedar forest, the hot springs at Vashisht, the Tibetan monastery, Van Vihar and Mall Road.
- Solang Valley: The wide meadow above Manali for paragliding, zorbing, ATV rides and, in winter, skiing and snow, all paid for on the spot.
- Atal Tunnel and Rohtang Pass: The long road tunnel under the Rohtang ridge to Sissu in Lahaul, and the pass itself for the snow, on a permit and only when it is open.
- Kasol and the Parvati valley: The riverside village of cafes and craft stalls on the Parvati river, a short drive from Manikaran.
- Jibhi and Jalori Pass: The quiet Tirthan side of the Kullu valley: Jibhi's waterfall, Chehni Kothi's tower temple, and the forest walk from Jalori Pass to Serolsar Lake.
- Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj: The home of the Tibetan community in exile under the Dhauladhar range: monasteries, Bhagsunath temple and waterfall, Naddi and St John in the Wilderness.
- Dalhousie and Khajjiar: Dalhousie's colonial churches and Chamera Lake, the deodar forest of Kalatop, and Khajjiar's meadow and small lake ringed by pines.
- Spiti and Kinnaur: The high cold desert beyond Kinnaur: Chitkul, Nako, Tabo, Key Monastery above Kaza, and Chandratal Lake in summer.
