Spiti Valley questions, answered

Not travelling from Delhi? Can I still join?
Yes. The plan starts at Delhi and you can reach it from any Indian city. Delhi, Chandigarh and Shimla are all well connected by train, bus and air. Your travel up to the start point is not part of the price, and we will help you pick the right arrival time.
Is this a group departure or a private trip?
This is a private trip. Your own vehicle, your own dates and your own pace, with only your group on board. Nothing is shared with strangers and the itinerary can be reshaped around you.
Which road does this trip use, and when is it open?
This is the full circuit, in one side and out the other over Kunzum La. That pass is open roughly June to October, so the trip runs in those months and we switch to the Kinnaur road when snow closes it early.
How high is Spiti and should I worry about the altitude?
Kaza is around 12,500 feet and Komic and Langza are higher still. The route gains height gradually through Kinnaur, which is the gentlest way to acclimatise. Take day one slow, drink water, and tell us about any medical condition before you book.
Will I have phone signal and cash machines?
Only postpaid connections work beyond Kinnaur and coverage is patchy, with the most reliable signal at Kaza. There are very few working ATMs past Reckong Peo, so carry enough cash for the whole Spiti stretch.
What kind of stays are included?
Handpicked hotels, guesthouses and homestays on the route, chosen for location and warmth rather than star ratings, since that is what the high valleys offer. Camps are used where they are the only option, and every stay is named in your final plan.
