1Day 1 - Trip begins at Srinagar - Srinagar to Pahalgam | Snow-clad Valley.
  • Arrive in Srinagar and drive to Pahalgam through saffron and apple country (approx. 3-4 hours).
  • Check in to the snow-clad village of Pahalgam.
  • Optional horseback ride to Baisaran (payable directly).
  • Overnight stay in Pahalgam.
2Day 2 - Pahalgam Valley Exploration | Betaab & Aru.
  • Explore the wide Betaab Valley and the remote Aru Valley under fresh snow.
  • Surreal meadow-and-pine views throughout the day.
  • Optional river rafting on the Lidder when the season allows.
  • Overnight stay in Pahalgam.
3Day 3 - Pahalgam to Gulmarg | Frozen Drung Waterfall.
  • Drive to Gulmarg via Pampore, stopping at the frozen Drung Waterfall (approx. 4-5 hours).
  • Explore Gulmarg’s pine-shaded, snow-covered trails.
  • In heavy snow, vehicles may stop at Tangmarg (snow-jeeps run beyond, payable directly).
  • Overnight stay in Gulmarg.
4Day 4 - Gulmarg Sightseeing | Gondola & Transfer to Srinagar.
  • Ride the pre-booked Gondola cable car (Phase I & II) for cross-country snow views.
  • Snow activities in the meadows before heading down.
  • Gondola tickets, pony rides and the union cab are paid directly.
  • Evening transfer to your Srinagar hotel.
  • Overnight stay in Srinagar.
5Day 5 - Srinagar Exploration | Shikara & Houseboat Stay.
  • Choose a Sonmarg valley run or the Shankaracharya Temple with the Mughal Gardens.
  • Enjoy the complimentary one-hour Shikara ride on Dal Lake.
  • Check in to a houseboat on Dal Lake for the night.
  • Overnight stay on the houseboat.
6Day 6 - Trip ends at Srinagar - Departure from Srinagar.
  • After breakfast, check out from the houseboat (by 11 AM).
  • Transfer to Srinagar Airport for your journey home.

Kashmir questions, answered

Will the winter route stay open if it snows?
Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam remain accessible through winter, but heavy snowfall can temporarily close the Gulmarg road beyond Tangmarg (only chained snow-jeeps are allowed then, paid directly) and can shut the Sonmarg road entirely. If a road is closed we substitute the nearest feasible sightseeing, such as Doodhpathri.
Are the Gondola tickets and pony rides included?
No. The Gulmarg Gondola, pony and sledge rides, and the Thajiwas Glacier pony ride are paid directly on the spot. Gondola tickets are issued by the state cable-car corporation and are subject to availability on the day, so book them as soon as you reach Gulmarg.
Why are local union cabs needed at Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg?
Local transport unions do not allow outside vehicles beyond the main cab stand at these points. Your private vehicle drops you at the stand and a local union cab takes you on the sightseeing circuit. These union charges are fixed and paid directly, which is why they sit under exclusions.
Is the houseboat stay comfortable for families and senior citizens?
Yes. The houseboats are moored on the Dal Lake shoreline, reached by a short shikara transfer, and have en-suite rooms, hot water, heating and room service. If anyone has mobility concerns, tell us in advance and we will place you on a boat with the shortest walk from the ghat, or move that night to a lakeside hotel.
What should we pack?
Even in summer the mornings and evenings are cool, so carry a light jacket and a warm layer for Gulmarg and Sonmarg. From November to March you need proper winter wear, gloves, cap and waterproof shoes, snow boots and jackets can also be hired at Gulmarg. Sunscreen and sunglasses matter year-round at this altitude.
Can this itinerary be customised?
Yes. We can add or drop nights, swap days, upgrade the hotels and houseboat category, or extend to Yusmarg, Doodhpathri or Dachigam. Tell your travel consultant what you have in mind and we will rework the plan and the quote.
