1Day 1 - Trip begins at Srinagar - Arrival in Srinagar | Shikara Ride & Houseboat Stay.
  • Arrive at Srinagar Airport, transfer straight to Dal Lake.
  • Board a private Shikara ride past floating gardens, houseboats and the distant peaks.
  • Check in to a traditional houseboat with Kashmiri hospitality and dinner on deck.
  • Overnight stay on the houseboat.
2Day 2 - Srinagar Sightseeing | Mughal Gardens & Old City.
  • After breakfast, check out of the houseboat and move to your hotel.
  • Tour Nishat Bagh, Chashme Shahi and the Shankaracharya Temple.
  • Wander the bazaars of Lal Chowk hand-in-hand for pashmina and papier-mâché.
  • Overnight stay in Srinagar.
3Day 3 - Excursion to Sonmarg | Thajiwas Glacier.
  • After breakfast, drive to Sonmarg along the Sindh river.
  • Pony ride to the Thajiwas Glacier viewpoint amid meadows and streams.
  • Optional rafting on the Sindh river, payable directly.
  • Return to Srinagar for an overnight stay.
4Day 4 - Srinagar to Pahalgam | Sightseeing Tour.
  • After breakfast and check-out, drive to Pahalgam past Pampore’s saffron fields.
  • Take a union cab to Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari.
  • Evening stroll along the Lidder river.

7Day 7 - Gulmarg Sightseeing | Gondola & Strawberry Valley.
  • After breakfast, take a union cab for the Gulmarg circuit.
  • Ride the Gondola towards Apharwat Peak for panoramic Himalayan views.
  • Visit the Drung Waterfall, Strawberry Valley and the Igloo Cafe.

8Day 8 - Trip ends at Srinagar - Departure from Srinagar.

Kashmir questions, answered

What is the best time to do this Kashmir trip?
The trip runs all year. March-May brings tulips and blossom, June-August gives the greenest meadows and the most comfortable weather, September-October is the golden chinar season, and December-February turns Gulmarg into a snow destination. Heavy snowfall can occasionally affect the Gulmarg and Sonmarg roads in peak winter.
Are the Gondola tickets and pony rides included?
No. The Gulmarg Gondola, pony and sledge rides, and the Thajiwas Glacier pony ride are paid directly on the spot. Gondola tickets are issued by the state cable-car corporation and are subject to availability on the day, so book them as soon as you reach Gulmarg.
Why are local union cabs needed at Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg?
Local transport unions do not allow outside vehicles beyond the main cab stand at these points. Your private vehicle drops you at the stand and a local union cab takes you on the sightseeing circuit. These union charges are fixed and paid directly, which is why they sit under exclusions.
Is the houseboat stay comfortable for families and senior citizens?
Yes. The houseboats are moored on the Dal Lake shoreline, reached by a short shikara transfer, and have en-suite rooms, hot water, heating and room service. If anyone has mobility concerns, tell us in advance and we will place you on a boat with the shortest walk from the ghat, or move that night to a lakeside hotel.
How much walking is involved?
Very little. Sightseeing is point-to-point by vehicle, and the walks at the Mughal Gardens, Betaab and Aru valleys are short and flat. The only uphill sections are the optional pony rides at Pahalgam and Thajiwas Glacier, which you can skip entirely.
What should we pack?
Even in summer the mornings and evenings are cool, so carry a light jacket and a warm layer for Gulmarg and Sonmarg. From November to March you need proper winter wear, gloves, cap and waterproof shoes, snow boots and jackets can also be hired at Gulmarg. Sunscreen and sunglasses matter year-round at this altitude.
Can this itinerary be customised?
