Coorg rewards a slow trip, which is awkward, because most people get two nights. Here is the order that fits the most into three days without turning it into a drive.
Day 1 — arrive, then west of Madikeri
Most people reach Madikeri late morning after a night drive or an early start from Bengaluru. Check in, eat, and then do the easy half: Abbey Falls, eight km out, a short walk down to a hanging bridge that faces the fall — loud and full after the rains, thin by April. Then Raja’s Seat for sunset, the garden looking west over the valley, which is where the whole town goes at six.
If you have the energy, Madikeri Fort and the Omkareshwara temple are in town.
Day 2 — Dubare in the morning, monastery in the afternoon
This is the day that needs an alarm. Dubare Elephant Camp sits on the Kaveri and the interaction session — helping bathe and feed the elephants — is a morning thing that finishes well before lunch. Turn up at noon and you are watching from the bank. You cross to the camp by boat.
In the afternoon, drive out to Namdroling Monastery at Bylakuppe, about half an hour off the Mysuru road. The Golden Temple of the Tibetan settlement is the single most surprising thing in Coorg for most first-time visitors, and if you time it for 5 pm you get the chanting.
Fit a coffee estate walk around either — most homestays run one, and it is the thing you will actually remember.
Day 3 — sunrise, or a slow morning
Two options, and they are genuinely different trips.
Mandalpatti means leaving around 4.30 am. You drive to the base, change into a shared jeep — private cars are not allowed on the track — and climb to 1,600 m for sunrise over a sea of cloud. It is the best thing in Coorg and it costs you the morning.
Or: sleep, have a long estate breakfast, and drive home via Iruppu Falls and the Nagarhole edge, which is the gentler version and still a good day.

Entry tickets at the falls, Dubare and the monastery. The Mandalpatti jeep, paid at the base and shared between the group. Boating or rafting where it is offered. Lunches on travel days. When to go
October to February is the window — clear mornings, full waterfalls, cold nights on the estates. March to May is warm in the valleys and quiet. June to September is the monsoon: at its greenest and cheapest, with the Mandalpatti track liable to close.
