The best time to visit Thailand from India is November to February, when Bangkok is at its most comfortable and the sea around Phuket and Krabi is calm; the islands stay good into April. It is also the busiest and dearest stretch, most of all over Christmas and New Year. The cheapest months are July to October, in the rains, when flights from India and hotels cost least but Phuket and Krabi get their roughest weather. Koh Samui and Koh Phangan run on a different calendar. Here is the year season by season, with temperatures, the festivals worth timing, what to avoid and which of our trips suits which month.

November to February: cool, dry and busy
This is Thailand at its easiest. Bangkok's temples and river evenings are pleasant, rain is rare (Bangkok averages only about 5 mm in December), and the Andaman Sea is calm for the Phi Phi speedboat day and the Krabi four-island tour. The catch is price and crowds. Flights and hotels cost the most, 5-star resorts in Phuket and Krabi are at their dearest in December and January, and the Christmas to New Year weeks sell out, so book early.
March to May: hot, with Songkran in April
Bangkok runs from about 26°C to 36°C, April is the hottest month and the humidity is high. The islands stay mostly dry until the rains arrive around mid-May, so March and April are still good beach months on the Phuket and Krabi side. Songkran, the water festival in mid-April, is fun and crowded, and you will get wet. Indian school holidays push fares up in April and May, May most of all.
Mid-May to October: the rains and the lowest prices
Thailand's rainy season starts around mid-May. From June to August it usually means heavy showers rather than washed-out days, on the mainland and the Andaman coast, and hotels are at their cheapest. Maya Bay on Phi Phi closes every year from 1 August to 30 September.
September and October are the wettest months for Phuket and Krabi (Phuket averages about 325 mm of rain in September), when rough seas can cancel Phi Phi and other island boat trips. Bangkok gets its heaviest rain in September too, but mostly as downpours rather than all-day rain, so a Bangkok and Pattaya trip still works with a flexible day plan, at the year's lowest prices.
Koh Samui and Koh Phangan: the opposite calendar
The Gulf of Thailand islands are wettest from October to December, heaviest in November, the reverse of Phuket, and comparatively dry from June to August. A Full Moon Party trip is better planned between January and September. The party fills Haad Rin beach on Koh Phangan on or near each full moon, and the dates shift around Buddhist holidays, so check the date before you book flights. Festivals and holiday weeks worth timing
- Songkran, mid-April: the Thai new year water festival. Go for it, or plan quiet temple days around it, because the streets fill up and nobody stays dry.
- The Full Moon Party, every month: Haad Rin beach, entry about 200 baht (about ₹580), dates tied to the moon.
- Christmas and New Year: the dearest weeks for hotels, with high fares too, so book well ahead.
- Indian school holidays in May: usually the highest average fares from India.
Cheapest and busiest months, and what to avoid
On fares, the monsoon months of July to October are usually the cheapest time to fly from Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, while May and the Christmas to New Year weeks cost the most. For most of the year the lowest non-stop return fares to Bangkok average roughly ₹20,000 to ₹35,000. Hotels are cheapest in the rains: booking-site averages for Phuket are lowest in September and highest in January. These are typical ranges, not quotes, and flights are not part of our land packages.
