A Malaysia trip from India costs about ₹38,000 to ₹56,000 per person for four days in Kuala Lumpur, and about ₹51,000 to ₹71,000 per person for six days with Langkawi, once a return flight, a land package, meals and the hotel tourism tax are counted at September 2026 prices. There is no visa fee for Indians at present, which keeps Malaysia cheaper than most foreign trips of the same length. This guide adds up each line, says which figures are typical ranges rather than quotes, and shows what our land packages cover and leave out.

The package lines are the starting prices of our 4 Days Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Getaway and 6 Days Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Langkawi Escape, per person on twin sharing with standard, handpicked 3-star stays. Low totals use a Chennai fare at the bottom of the typical range, high totals a Hyderabad fare at the top. Neither total counts shopping, travel insurance or extra tickets, and the 6-day total leaves out the Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi flight.
Flights: ₹19,000 to ₹33,000 return
Non-stop flights to Kuala Lumpur take about four hours from Chennai, four and a quarter from Bengaluru and four and a half from Hyderabad, on AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, IndiGo and Batik Air between them. KAYAK's fare data for the past 12 months, checked on 14 September 2026, puts typical economy return fares at:
- Chennai to Kuala Lumpur: about ₹19,000 to ₹29,000.
- Bengaluru to Kuala Lumpur: about ₹21,000 to ₹31,000.
- Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur: about ₹23,000 to ₹33,000.
Low-cost fares without a checked bag sit at the bottom of these ranges. May and June, the Indian summer holidays, are the dearest months, and the Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year weeks are Malaysia's busiest. These are a guide, not a quote: flights are not in our land packages and are quoted separately on request, including the 1 hour 5 minute hop from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi.
Visa: no fee, as of September 2026
Indian passport holders can currently visit Malaysia without a visa for up to 30 days, and the waiver runs until 31 December 2026. The one form is the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, filed free online within the three days before you land. Immigration can ask to see a confirmed return ticket, a hotel booking and proof you can fund the stay. Hotels: ₹1,500 to ₹12,000 and up a night
These are rough guides from a single November 2026 weekday search for two adults, not quotes:
- Budget: ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 for a double in a guesthouse or 2 to 3 star hotel in Bukit Bintang or near Pantai Cenang.
- Mid-range: ₹3,500 to ₹8,000 for a 4-star city hotel in Kuala Lumpur or a 3 to 4 star beach hotel in Langkawi.
- Luxury: ₹12,000 and up for five-star hotels around KLCC and international-brand resorts in Langkawi; the rainforest and private-beach resorts cost considerably more.
Two taxes sit on top. Foreign guests pay a tourism tax of RM10, about ₹235, per room per night, charged by the booking site when you book online or collected at check-in, and hotel bills carry 8% service tax. Our package prices use standard stays; ask the planner to price a higher hotel category if you want one.
Food and money: ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 a day
A meal at a hawker centre, mamak shop or food court costs about RM12 to RM25, roughly ₹280 to ₹590, and a three-course dinner for two at a mid-range restaurant about RM120, about ₹2,800, on Numbeo's Kuala Lumpur figures for September 2026. At about ₹23.45 to one ringgit, eating simply comes to ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 per person a day. Breakfast is in our packages; lunch and dinner are not. South Indian and vegetarian food is easy to find, especially in Brickfields next to KL Sentral, and larger restaurants add 6% service tax.
Take a forex card and some cash for hawker stalls. UPI payments at Malaysian DuitNow QR codes were agreed in February 2026, but we could not confirm they work as of September 2026, so do not count on them.
Tickets and getting around
These matter most for days you add or plan yourself. Non-Malaysian rates from the official sites, September 2026:
- Petronas Twin Towers, Skybridge and Observation Deck: RM127 on weekdays and RM137 at weekends, about ₹3,000 to ₹3,200; children 2 to 12 RM65 to RM69. Closed on the first and third Monday of every month. Included in our 4-day and 6-day trips.
- Genting SkyWorlds theme park: RM168 bought online at least a day ahead, RM198 at the gate, about ₹3,900 to ₹4,600; RM65 for a child 90 to 110 cm tall or a senior aged 60 and over, free below 90 cm. Closed on Tuesdays except Malaysian public and school holidays. Not in our packages' inclusions.
- Awana SkyWay cable car, Genting Highlands: RM11 one way or RM19 return in a standard gondola; RM29 one way online in a glass-floor gondola.
- KLIA Ekspres, airport to KL Sentral: RM55 one way, about ₹1,290.
Grab ride-hailing is the normal way around Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi.

All are private trips for your group, priced per person on twin sharing with standard stays; on the Genting and Sunway trips one Malaysia sightseeing tour runs on a shared basis, as their inclusions say. The two Malaysia-only trips include airport transfers, hotel nights with daily breakfast, a half-day Kuala Lumpur city tour with Petronas Twin Towers tickets and a Batu Caves and Genting Highlands day; the 6-day trip adds three Langkawi nights, a sightseeing day and a speedboat island-hopping tour.
Not included: international flights, the Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi flight, lunch and dinner, travel insurance, visa fees, tickets not on the itinerary and personal spending. The Singapore trips also need a Singapore visa for each traveller, and any flight between cities on those itineraries is extra.
How to bring the number down
- Fly outside May and June and away from the Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year weeks; KAYAK's data puts the lowest average fares in March from Chennai and Hyderabad and in November from Bengaluru.
- Fly from Chennai if it suits you: its typical fares are the lowest of the three southern cities.
- Eat one or two meals a day at hawker centres and mamak shops, at RM12 to RM25 a plate.
- Buy the extras you are sure of in advance: SkyWorlds is RM30 cheaper per adult online a day ahead than at the gate.
- Choose the 4-day Kuala Lumpur trip if a beach is not the point; Genting gives you the cool hills without the Langkawi flight.
