Ladakh questions, answered

Not travelling from Leh? Can I still join?
Yes. The plan starts at Leh and you can reach it from any Indian city. Leh has daily flights from Delhi, and Srinagar and Manali are both easy road or air connections. Your travel up to the start point is not part of the price, and we will help you pick the right arrival time.
Is this a group departure or a private trip?
This is a private trip. Your own vehicle, your own dates and your own pace, with only your group on board. Nothing is shared with strangers and the itinerary can be reshaped around you.
How does the altitude work, and will I get mountain sickness?
Leh sits at about 11,500 feet and Khardung La and Chang La are far higher, so the plan keeps the first day light for acclimatisation. Drink water, skip alcohol on day one, and tell us about any heart or lung condition before booking so we can advise honestly.
Do I need permits for Nubra and Pangong?
Yes. Inner Line Permits are needed for Nubra, Pangong and the other protected areas, and Indian nationals need a valid photo ID while foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit. We arrange these for you once your ID details and dates are confirmed.
When is the best time for this trip?
Mid May to late September is the reliable window, when the passes and the lake roads are open. The Manali and Srinagar highways usually close under snow from around November to May, and dates in the shoulder weeks depend on the road opening.
What kind of stays are included?
Handpicked hotels, guesthouses and homestays on the route, chosen for location and warmth rather than star ratings, since that is what the high valleys offer. Camps are used where they are the only option, and every stay is named in your final plan.
