1Day 1 - Trip begins at Paro Airport - Arrive in Siliguri and drive to Phuentsholing
- Pick up at New Jalpaiguri station or Bagdogra airport and drive past tea gardens and small villages
- Check in at the border town and rest up
- Optional evening: the hill-set Karbandi Monastery and the busy local markets
2Day 2 - Immigration formalities and drive to Thimphu
- Complete the travel permit at the immigration office
- Stop at the Chukha dam on the way up
- Check in at Thimphu
- Free time for the 177 ft Buddha Dordenma, the Royal Botanical Garden, Simtokha Dzong or the handicrafts market
3Day 3 - Thimphu sightseeing
- Visit the National Memorial Chorten, built in honour of the third king
- See the takin at the Motithang preserve
- Walk through Tashichho Dzong with its many temples and shrines
- Add Changangkha Lhakhang, the Royal Textile museum, Simply Bhutan and the Sangaygang viewpoint
4Day 4 - To Punakha over Dochula Pass
- Cross Dochula Pass with its mountain views and prayer flags
- Visit Chimi Lhakhang, known for its fertility blessings
- See Punakha Dzong set between two rivers
- Walk the Punakha suspension bridge, then check in
5Day 5 - Drive to Paro and half day sightseeing
- Head through Bhutanese village country to Paro
- Visit Rinpung Dzong, a fortress-monastery holding sacred artefacts
- See Nyamai Zam, the old wooden bridge over the Paro Chhu
- Check in and take the rest of the day easy
6Day 6 - Hike to the Tiger's Nest
- Drive to the base and walk about 7 km through pine forest hung with prayer flags
- Reach Taktsang Monastery on its cliff ledge
- Explore the meditation caves, old murals and prayer wheels linked to Guru Rinpoche
- Descend and return to the hotel
7Day 7 - Back to Phuentsholing via Chele La
- Climb to Chele La, the highest motorable pass in the country, for valley and Himalayan views
- Continue down to Phuentsholing and check in
- Free time at the Bhutan Gate or along the Torsa river, with Zangto Pelri nearby
8Day 8 - Trip ends at Paro Airport - Exit formalities and departure
- Stop at the Bhutan immigration office
- Transfer to New Jalpaiguri station or Bagdogra airport to end the trip
