February to April: the driest start and the cheapest fares
February is Singapore's driest month, averaging about 105 mm of rain over nine days. From late March the inter-monsoon season brings afternoon and early-evening thunderstorms, and April and May have the hottest afternoons, so put the outdoor sights in the morning. February and March are usually the cheapest months to fly from South India, and KAYAK makes March the cheapest month for Singapore hotels. Chinese New Year falls on 6 and 7 February 2027, when Chinatown is at its most festive; some family-run hawker stalls and small shops may close for a few days around it. The Chennai consulate's busy visa season runs from March to May, so apply two to four weeks ahead for a trip then.
May and June: the hottest months, at school-holiday prices
May is the warmest month of the year, and both months are hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms in May and, from June, the southwest monsoon's occasional early-morning squalls. Indian summer school holidays make this one of the busiest and dearest times to fly from India, and KAYAK makes June the dearest month for Singapore hotels. If the school calendar leaves you no choice, book flights and the package early, and keep the walking sights for the mornings and evenings.
July to September: short showers and a haze check
These are southwest monsoon months, a little drier than the year-end: June to September average about 125 to 147 mm of rain over 13 or 14 days a month, mostly as short afternoon showers and occasional squalls of wind and rain between the early hours and midday. Light haze is common in these months, and in some years smoke haze from regional forest fires drifts in, so check the air quality before an outdoor-heavy trip. Fares from South India can be high in July and August. National Day, Singapore's national holiday, is on 9 August.
October and November: storms, Formula One and Deepavali
The second inter-monsoon brings afternoon and early-evening thunderstorms, and November is much wetter than October, at about 252 mm over 19 days. The Formula One night race on 9 to 11 October 2026 pushes Marina Bay hotel rates up, so on a budget avoid that weekend or stay away from the bay. Deepavali falls on 8 November 2026 and is the time to see Little India lit up; in 2027 it is on 28 October. The Gardens by the Bay domes also close on maintenance days, and the next ones listed are 6 October 2026 for the Flower Dome and 26 October 2026 for the Cloud Forest, so check before you plan a gardens day.
December and January: the wettest stretch and the Christmas lights
December is the wettest month, averaging about 330 mm of rain over 19 days, and monsoon surges can bring whole days of steady rain into early January, which averages about 222 mm. These are also the coolest months, at about 24 to 31°C, and late January turns drier and windier. Christmas lights on Orchard Road in the weeks before Christmas and the year-end holidays make December one of the dearest months to fly.
