Day-wise plan

Every day runs on a private cab - the order and pace are yours to change.

1Day 1 - Trip begins at Bagdogra - Arrive at Bagdogra, drive to Gangtok
  • Land at Bagdogra Airport and meet your private cab for the scenic climb to Gangtok, Sikkim's capital sitting at about 5,500 ft (around 120 km, 4 to 5 hours depending on hill roads and weather).
  • Check in to your hotel and unwind; the evening is yours to stroll MG Marg or simply settle in.
  • Overnight in Gangtok.
2Day 2 - Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir day trip
  • After breakfast, head out on the high-altitude excursion to Tsomgo Lake at 12,310 ft and the revered Baba Mandir at 13,200 ft (roughly 55 km, about 3 hours each way).
  • If permits and weather allow, you can extend the drive to Nathula Pass on the old Indo-China border at your own cost (closed on Mondays; permits are never guaranteed).
  • If snowfall, landslides or army restrictions close the road, alternate sightseeing around Gangtok is arranged instead.
  • Overnight in Gangtok.
3Day 3 - Gangtok local sightseeing
  • Spend the day exploring Gangtok with your cab: the Flower Show, Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Do Drul Chorten stupa, Ranka Monastery and Banjhakri Waterfall.
  • Return to the hotel by evening with time to relax or shop.
  • Overnight in Gangtok.
4Day 4 - Gangtok to Pelling via Namchi
  • Set off early after breakfast for Pelling, a quiet hill station at about 6,300 ft (around 150 km, 5 hours).
  • Break the journey at Namchi's Char Dham complex, a tea garden and a waterfall en route.
  • The Buddha Park at Ravangla can be added on the way for a small extra entry fee paid directly.
  • Overnight in Pelling.
5Day 5 - Pelling sightseeing
  • A full day around Pelling: walk the glass Sky Walk to the giant Chenrezig statue, then visit Pemayangtse Monastery and the Rabdentse palace ruins.
  • Continue to the bird sanctuary, Kanchenjunga Waterfall and the sacred, wish-fulfilling Khecheopalri Lake.
  • Evening free at the hotel with Kanchenjunga views on a clear day.
  • Overnight in Pelling.
6Day 6 - Pelling to Darjeeling
  • After breakfast, drive across the border of Sikkim into West Bengal's tea country to reach Darjeeling (about 80 km, 4 hours).
  • Check in and spend the rest of the day at leisure on the Mall Road or in a cosy cafe.
  • Overnight in Darjeeling.
7Day 7 - Tiger Hill sunrise and Darjeeling sightseeing
  • A 4 AM start takes you to Tiger Hill to watch the first light hit the Kanchenjunga range, the world's third-highest peak at 28,208 ft.
  • On the way back, stop at Batasia Loop and the Gorkha War Memorial, then return for breakfast.
  • Later, tour the Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda, the zoo (closed Thursdays), Tenzing Rock, the Tibetan Refugee Centre and a working tea garden.
  • Fancy the famous Toy Train? Book your joyride online on IRCTC; tickets are extra.
  • Overnight in Darjeeling.

  • After breakfast, drive down from Darjeeling to Bagdogra Airport (about 80 km, 4 hours) for your onward flight or train.

Sikkim questions, answered

I am not from this region - how do I join the trip?
Easily. The trip starts at Bagdogra airport or NJP railway station near Siliguri, with daily flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore and overnight trains from Kolkata. Reach Bagdogra or NJP and everything after that, from pickup to final drop, is on us.
Is this a group departure or a private trip?
This is a fully private trip: your own cab, your own dates and your own pace. The route here is the recommended plan, and we adjust it to your liking when you enquire.
What is the best time for this trip?
March to June and October to December are the sweetest windows, with clear Kanchenjunga views on most mornings. The July to September monsoon brings mist and occasional landslides on the hill roads, so we keep those weeks flexible.
Are Tsomgo Lake and Nathula covered?
Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir are part of the plan, arranged with the required day permit and your ID. Nathula Pass needs a separate permit, stays closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and is weather-dependent, so it is planned as an add-on when open.
Can the itinerary be customised?
Yes. Days can be added or removed, stays upgraded, and places swapped. Send an enquiry with your dates and group size and we will build the exact plan and price for you.
