  • Weather: Coorg sits at 1,100 m.
  • Trip type: private trips planned around your dates and your group.

Coorg packages by starting city

Fixed-date group departures leave from Hyderabad and Bangalore: the travel, the stays, the meals listed and a trip captain in one price.

From Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Kochi every trip is planned privately around your dates, and each city page says how to reach Coorg from there and what it costs.

Places to visit in Coorg

Every trip on this page covers the places below; a private trip can drop one and add another.

  • Abbey Falls: Eight km from Madikeri, a short walk down to a hanging bridge facing the fall; fullest from July to October.
  • Dubare Elephant Camp: The forest department camp on the Kaveri where you help bathe and feed the elephants; go before 10 am, and cross by coracle.
  • Raja's Seat: The sunset garden in Madikeri looking west over the valley, with a small toy train and a musical fountain in the evening.
  • Namdroling Monastery, Bylakuppe: The Golden Temple of the Tibetan settlement, 35 km from Madikeri, with three gilded statues and chanting at 5 pm.
  • Mandalpatti: A jeep-only track climbs to 1,600 m for sunrise above the clouds; the jeeps leave from Madikeri and the road closes in heavy rain.
  • Talakaveri and Bhagamandala: The Kaveri's source on Brahmagiri hill, 45 km out, with a temple tank and 400 steps to the viewpoint.
  • Iruppu Falls and Nagarhole: A 70 m fall near the Kerala border and the Nagarhole safari gate an hour further, best at dawn.
  • A coffee plantation walk: Arabica and robusta under pepper vines, usually on the estate you are staying on, ending with fresh filter coffee.

A 3 day Coorg trip, day by day

A private trip runs the same plan at your own pace; a group departure follows it to the minute.

  • Day 1: reach Madikeri by late morning, Abbey Falls, the Raja's Tomb and Madikeri fort, then Raja's Seat for sunset and the evening market.
  • Day 2: Dubare elephant camp early, a coracle on the Kaveri, the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe after lunch, and a coffee-estate walk before dinner.
  • Day 3: Mandalpatti jeep ride at sunrise or Talakaveri, breakfast on the estate, and the drive back by afternoon.

Coorg trip cost and what the price covers

Coorg packages start at ₹10,900 per person: ₹10,900 for 4 days. That covers the stays, the local travel, the sightseeing and activities each trip page lists; the journey from your city is quoted with the trip so you can pick the train, bus or flight.

What moves the price is the room category, the season and the group size. Weekends, long weekends and the December fortnight cost more than a mid-week date, and a group of four to six brings the per-person price down because the car and the rooms are shared. Entry tickets and anything not named on the trip page stay out of the fare, so the number you see is the number you pay.

Coorg for friends, couples and families

Families and couples take the private trips: the same places at your own pace, with the room category and the car chosen for your group.

Best time to visit Coorg and how to reach

Best time

October to March is the pleasant season, with clear mornings and cool nights. April and May are warm but still green. June to September is the monsoon, when the waterfalls are at their best and the estates sit in mist, though the Mandalpatti road and the treks can close.

  • October to February, 14 to 28°C: The best window: clear mornings, full waterfalls after the rains, cold nights. December to mid-January is peak and hotels cost the most.
  • March to May, 18 to 32°C: Warm in the valley, still pleasant on the estates. Fewer crowds outside the school-holiday fortnight.
  • June to September, 18 to 26°C: The monsoon: mist, heavy rain and waterfalls at full flow. The Mandalpatti track and some treks close; rates are lowest.

What to pack

Cotton by day and a jacket or shawl after dark all year; Madikeri drops to 14°C on winter mornings. Shoes with grip for Abbey Falls and the Mandalpatti jeep track, a rain shell from June to September, and something covering shoulders and knees for the Golden Temple and Talakaveri.

Getting there

Coorg is about 830 km from Hyderabad, an overnight road journey of 13 to 14 hours, which is why the fixed-date group trips leave on Friday night and are back by Monday morning. There is no train into Coorg; Mysuru, 120 km away, is the nearest railhead.

Coorg is about 260 km from Bangalore, five to six hours by road through Mysuru or Hassan, so the group trips leave on Friday night and reach Madikeri for breakfast. Self-drive is easy; there is no railway into Coorg.

Chennai to Coorg is about 600 km, 10 to 11 hours by road. The usual route is the overnight train or bus to Mysuru or Bangalore and the rest by road; a flight to Bangalore or Mangalore turns it into a half-day drive.

Coorg or Ooty?

Coorg or Ooty? Ooty is colder, busier and built for sightseeing: gardens, a toy train and viewpoints, reached in six to seven hours from Bengaluru. Coorg is greener and quieter, about coffee estates, waterfalls and homestays, and five hours away. Coorg usually works out slightly cheaper for the same nights because the stays are homestays rather than hotels; Ooty is the better first trip with children or elderly parents because everything is close together.

Every Coorg trip we run

This page answers one question. The hub lists the whole Coorg catalogue — every length, every departure city, group departures and private trips — with the same prices.

4 days in Coorg: what travellers ask

October to March is dry, clear and the most comfortable. June to September is the monsoon, which is when Coorg is at its greenest and the waterfalls actually run — many people prefer it, as long as you accept the rain. March and April bring the coffee blossom, which lasts only a few days and cannot be scheduled.

From people just like you

During this memorable trip, it wasn't merely a voyage but an enriching adventure shared with dear friends and family. The experience proved to be exceptionally comfortable, justifying every penny spent. Opting for this option was a decision I would have regretted not making, given the unparalleled comfort and joy it brought. A pivotal factor in this delightful journey was our travel guide, Deepika. Her remarkable care and attention to detail ensured that every moment was free of discomfort, making this expedition truly special.

Our Keral trip was good, it was a well organised and traveloger team took care of everything so well. However, our trip was during christmas and obviously all the places were crowed and roads were blocked. Also, it was informed to us that the places will be crowed. So, we had no expectations and had good vacation.
