How much does the winter Spiti expedition cost?
From ₹16,999 per person on triple sharing, Shimla to Shimla, plus 5% GST. Double sharing is ₹17,999. With the AC bus from Delhi or Chandigarh it is ₹18,499 on triple and ₹19,499 on double.
How cold does it get?
Daytime sits around minus 5 to 5°C in Kaza and nights drop to minus 15 or lower. Homestays have electric blankets and the vehicle carries oxygen.
Is it safe to visit Spiti in winter?
Yes, on the Shimla side, which stays open all winter. The route runs Shimla, Kinnaur, Kaza and back the same way; the Manali side is closed.
Is the trip good for first-timers and solo travellers?
Yes. It is a small group with a trip captain, same-gender room sharing, an induction call before departure and a briefing every evening.
Will the roads close?
Heavy snowfall can shut a stretch for a day. The captain reorders the plan for safety; a snow-chained or 4x4 vehicle, if needed, is an extra on the spot.
What should I carry?
Thermals, a down jacket, fleece, gloves, woollen cap and balaclava, waterproof ankle boots, sunglasses, SPF 40 sunscreen, a torch and power bank, personal medicines with ORS and Diamox after a doctor consult, and a government ID.
