5 Day Bali Itinerary for Indian Travellers, Day by Day

Travloger Team15 Sept 20266 min read

Five days in Bali works best as two nights in Ubud and two nights in Kuta: the rice terraces, volcano views and temples of central Bali first, then the beaches and the Uluwatu cliffs in the south, close to the airport. Both of our five-day Bali trips use that shape. This 5 day Bali itinerary follows the 5 Days Bali Bedugul Uluwatu Getaway day by day, then shows how the 5 Days Bali Ubud Kuta Honeymoon Retreat swaps in Nusa Penida. It is timed for the IndiGo non-stop from Bengaluru, which lands around 10:20 am; connections from Hyderabad and Chennai usually land in the afternoon or evening.

Day 1: land at Denpasar and settle into Ubud

  • Arrival: have three QR codes on your phone: the e-VOA (or buy the visa at the counter), the All Indonesia arrival card and the Bali levy voucher.
  • Transfer: a private car to Ubud, about 1 to 1.5 hours, longer in evening traffic.
  • Evening: free. Walk to Ubud Palace and the art market, and catch an evening Legong dance show.
  • Late arrival: go straight to the hotel and move the palace and market to Day 2 evening.

Day 2: Tegallalang rice terraces and Kintamani

  • Morning: Tegenungan Waterfall and the stepped rice terraces at Tegallalang, about 30 minutes north of Ubud. The terraces are best before 9 am, so ask the driver to go there first.
  • Midday: up to Kintamani, a cool crater rim looking across Lake Batur to Mount Batur. Lunch with the view is the easy way to see it.
  • Afternoon: a coffee plantation with a tasting, and the jungle swing, both part of the Getaway's central Bali day.
  • Worth adding: Tirta Empul, the water temple on the Ubud to Kintamani road, where visitors can join the purification ritual in a sarong.

Day 3: Handara Gate, Ulun Danu Beratan and Tanah Lot

  • Morning: check out of Ubud by 8 am; this is the long drive day. Head up to the Bedugul highlands for the Handara Gate photograph.
  • Late morning: Ulun Danu Beratan, the lake temple that appears in most Bali photographs. Foreign adult entry has been IDR 100,000 (₹545) since 1 July 2026.
  • Sunset: Tanah Lot on the west coast, the sea temple on a rock just offshore, best at sunset when the tide and the crowds both come in. Foreign adult entry was reported to rise to IDR 100,000 from April 2026.
  • Night: on to the hotel in Kuta. Tanah Lot is about an hour from Seminyak in light traffic.

Day 4: Tanjung Benoa, Padang Padang and Uluwatu

  • Morning: Tanjung Benoa, the water-sports beach next to Nusa Dua, for parasailing, jet ski and banana boat rides. On the Getaway these are paid on the spot.
  • Afternoon: a walk on Padang Padang Beach.
  • Sunset: Uluwatu Temple, 70 metres above the Indian Ocean, and the fire-lit Kecak dance, about IDR 150,000 (₹815), an optional add-on. The monkeys snatch sunglasses and phones.
  • Dinner: grilled seafood on the sand at Jimbaran Bay, the usual pairing with Uluwatu.

Day 5: breakfast and the flight home

Check out after breakfast, pick up any last shopping and take the private transfer to the airport. The IndiGo non-stop back to Bengaluru has been scheduled in the late morning, so on that flight this is mostly a departure day; check the current timing when you book. Evening connections through Singapore or Kuala Lumpur leave time for a last beach morning.

The Nusa Penida version

The 5 Days Bali Ubud Kuta Honeymoon Retreat, from ₹27,800, keeps two nights in Ubud and two in Kuta but spends the days differently. Day 2 is Tegenungan Waterfall, Tirta Empul and a jungle swing. Day 3 moves to Kuta with half a day of water sports at Tanjung Benoa and a Balinese massage. Day 4 is the speedboat from Sanur, about 45 minutes, to Kelingking Beach, Angel's Billabong, Broken Bay and snorkelling at Bubu Beach.

It trades Kintamani, Bedugul, Tanah Lot and Uluwatu for the island. Nusa Penida is a long, bumpy day with steep paths: do not swim at Kelingking or Diamond Beach, check the life jackets on the boat, and remember that rough seas can cancel the crossing in the wet season.

Where to stay and how to get around

  • Ubud, nights 1 and 2: a hotel near the palace for evening walks, or a rice-field or valley resort. Mid-range hotels are typically ₹4,500 to ₹10,000 a night, and a one-bedroom private-pool villa commonly lists at about ₹4,900 to ₹13,600.
  • Kuta or Seminyak, nights 3 and 4: near the airport. Kuta has surf lessons and sunsets; Seminyak has the boutiques, restaurants and beach clubs.
  • Moving around: there is no practical public transport, so sightseeing is by car with a driver, which our packages include. Grab and Gojek work for short rides, though some villages and beaches do not allow app pickups. Skip the scooter: crashes are the most common serious problem for visitors.
  • Drive times: Ubud to Uluwatu is often 1.5 to 2.5 hours in traffic, which is why the plan moves south on Day 3.

Which of our trips follow it, and the cost

The 5 Days Bali Bedugul Uluwatu Getaway from ₹29,999 follows this plan, and the Honeymoon Retreat from ₹27,800 is the Nusa Penida version, both per person on twin sharing without flights. Both include two nights in Ubud and two in Kuta with breakfast, private airport transfers and private sightseeing. International flights are quoted separately on request; the visa and the Bali levy are paid separately, and your planner helps with the forms. With more days, the 7 Days Bali Kuta Ubud Escape from ₹41,999 adds Nusa Penida and a free day, and the 8 Days Bali Ubud Bedugul Kuta Bliss from ₹47,750 adds a safari park and Serangan Island. All in, five days comes to roughly ₹57,000 to ₹1,33,500 per person depending on the month; the lines are in Bali trip cost from India.

Questions we are asked most

Is 5 days enough for Bali?

Yes, for a first trip. Two nights in Ubud and two in Kuta cover the rice terraces, Kintamani, a lake temple, Tanah Lot and Uluwatu at sunset. Swap one day for Nusa Penida, or add a sixth or seventh day to keep both.

Should I stay in Ubud or Kuta for 5 days in Bali?

Split it. Ubud first for the rice terraces, temples and Kintamani, then Kuta or Seminyak near the airport for the beaches and Uluwatu. Ubud to Uluwatu is often 1.5 to 2.5 hours in traffic, so one base means long drives.

How much does a 5 day Bali trip cost from India?

Our five-day land packages start at ₹27,800 per person on twin sharing, without flights. With a return flight, the ₹2,700 visa, the ₹800 levy, meals and extras, plan roughly ₹57,000 to ₹1,33,500 per person, depending on the month.

Before you book, check the best time to visit Bali for your month and the Bali visa guide for the paperwork; couples will find the slower version in the Bali honeymoon guide. Every plan is on the Bali tour packages page, with flight notes for Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
