A Bali honeymoon works well from India because a mid-range budget goes a long way: a one-bedroom private-pool villa commonly lists at about ₹4,900 to ₹13,600 a night, and rice terraces, cliff temples and sunset beaches are within a couple of hours' drive of each other. The trade-offs are the journey and the paperwork: as of September 2026 only Bengaluru has a non-stop flight from South India, about seven hours, and each of you needs a visa and the Bali levy. When to go
April to June and September to October are the easiest honeymoon months: dry weather, calmer seas for a Nusa Penida day and prices below the July and August peak. July and August are the driest but also the busiest and dearest, with the highest fares from India. If your wedding falls between November and March, Bali will be in its wet season: warm, green and cheaper, with heavy downpours worst from December to February. Do not arrive or leave on Nyepi, the Day of Silence, when the airport closes for 24 hours; Bali calendars put it on Tuesday 9 March 2027. More in the best time to visit Bali guide.

These are typical rates; the five-star figure is indicative. Split the stay between Ubud and the coast rather than driving back and forth, since Ubud to Uluwatu is often 1.5 to 2.5 hours in traffic. Most of our couples' trips do this, some starting in Ubud and some on the coast.
Pacing: one full day, then an easy one
- Land and rest. The airport to Ubud is 1 to 1.5 hours; keep the first afternoon free.
- Start sightseeing days early. Tegallalang's rice terraces are best before 9 am.
- Take the easy Kintamani. Lunch facing Mount Batur is the relaxed version; the pre-dawn sunrise trek is the energetic one.
- Treat Nusa Penida as a big day. It is long and bumpy with steep paths. Keep it away from your last day, because rough seas can cancel the boat.
- Follow a big day with a slow one: a massage, a pool morning or a free afternoon.
Moments worth planning the days around
- Uluwatu at sunset. The cliff-top temple and the fire-lit Kecak dance, about IDR 150,000 (roughly ₹815 at 184 rupiah to the rupee). Keep sunglasses and phones away from the monkeys.
- Dinner on the sand at Jimbaran Bay. Grilled seafood at sunset, usually paired with Uluwatu.
- Tanah Lot at sunset. The sea temple on its rock as the tide comes in.

Bali or the Maldives?
The Maldives is the purer beach honeymoon: a shorter flight from South India and water villas on clear lagoons. But you usually stay on one resort island, where boat or seaplane transfers and resort meals add a lot to the bill, and there is little to do beyond the water and the spa. A Bali honeymoon takes longer to reach but gives more for the money: a private-pool villa, temples, rice terraces, volcano views and plenty of restaurants. For three or four nights of doing nothing, choose the Maldives; for five to eight days with variety, choose Bali.
Practical things couples ask
- Temples: a sarong and sash are required inside every temple, usually lent or rented at the entrance; cover your shoulders and do not climb shrines for photos. By tradition, women who are menstruating are asked not to enter temple grounds.
- Food: Indian and vegetarian food are easy to find in Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Ubud. Babi guling is pork, and strict Jain food needs planning.
- Drinks: only sealed, branded alcohol, because bootleg arak can contain methanol; watch your drinks in busy Kuta and Seminyak bars.
- Money: carry a card for hotels and bigger restaurants and some rupiah for small places, and use a licensed money changer; UPI is not live in Bali yet.
