Vietnam from Chennai: visa, flights and the best time
Visa: Indian passport holders need a Vietnam e-visa, applied for online before travel and usually issued within three to five working days. It is valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and we handle the application on request. Your passport needs six months of validity left.
Flights: Chennai to Vietnam is a one-stop journey through Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, about 6 to 8 hours in total to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.
Best time: October to April is the best window for the north and the centre: Hanoi and Halong Bay are cool and clear, Hoi An and Da Nang dry. Saigon and the Mekong are driest from December to April. The central coast sees typhoons in September and October, when Halong cruises can be cancelled.
Money: Vietnamese dong (VND). Cards work in hotels and city restaurants; carry cash for street food, markets and taxis outside the big cities. UPI does not work in Vietnam.
