Flying to Vietnam from Delhi

Delhi has the most non-stops to Vietnam of any Indian city: to Hanoi on IndiGo, VietJet, Vietnam Airlines and, from May 2026, Air India, several departures a day in all, about 4 hours 10 minutes; and to Ho Chi Minh City on Air India daily and on VietJet, about five hours (schedules as of September 2026).

Flights from Delhi leave from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). They are not part of the package price: the planner quotes them separately on request, so you choose the airline, the timing and the fare, and the trip starts from the airport transfer when you land.

How many days for Vietnam from Delhi

With a non-stop of about 4 hours 10 minutes, a Delhi traveller loses only part of the first and the last day, so the 5- and 6-day plans are enough for a first visit; the longer ones add a second base or slower days.

When to go to Vietnam from Delhi

The holidays Delhi travels on, and what Vietnam is like in those weeks:

  • Holi (March): Vietnam in March is dry in Saigon, the Mekong and Da Nang, cool and misty in the north.
  • Summer holidays (mid-May to June): Vietnam in June is good in Hanoi and Halong Bay and dry in Da Nang and Hoi An; summer storms can cancel Halong cruises.
  • Diwali (October or November): Vietnam in November is the best season for Hanoi and Halong Bay, and the rainy season in Hoi An, which floods most years.
  • The winter break (late December to early January): Vietnam in December and January is dry in Saigon and the Mekong, cool and misty in the north.

Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Halong Bay are best from September to November and again in April to June; December to March is cool and misty in the north. Da Nang and Hoi An are dry and hot from February to August; September to December is their rainy season, with flooding in Hoi An most years in October and November. Saigon, the Mekong and Phu Quoc are driest from December to April. Storms can cancel Halong cruises in the summer months.

Vietnam is the value trip of Southeast Asia: hotels, street food and transfers usually cost less than in Bali or Thailand, the e-visa is online, and the north, centre and south feel like three different countries. The price moves with the hotel category, the month and the group size, so share those three and you get an exact quote rather than a starting figure.

Vietnam visa and money for travellers from Delhi

Visa: As of September 2026, Indian passport holders need a Vietnam e-visa, applied for online at evisa.gov.vn before travel (US$25 single entry, US$50 multiple entry). The law allows three working days, but the embassy advises five or more, so we apply for the e-visa for you at least three weeks before you fly. It is valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry. The visa fee is paid separately. Your passport needs six months of validity left.

Money: Vietnamese dong (VND). Cards work in hotels and city restaurants; carry cash for street food, markets and taxis outside the big cities. UPI does not work in Vietnam yet (as of September 2026; a UPI link was agreed in May 2026 but is not running).
